SCIE’s work on children's and families' services
SCIE’s work on children’s services supports Every Child Matters and the Children’s Plan launched by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in late 2007. Together, these documents set out the terms of a major reform and improvement of services for children and families in England. SCIE also supports priorities for children’s social services in Wales and Northern Ireland.
SCIE is a member of the consortium running the Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO). C4EO will identify and coordinate local, regional and national evidence of ‘what works’, to create a single and comprehensive picture of effective practice in delivering children's services. Using this information, C4EO will offer support to local authorities and their Children’s Trust partners, working with them to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. Visit the C4EO website for more details.
We also continue to focus on the transition from children’s to adults’ services, children in care and disabled children. We continue to concentrate on support for parents with additional or special needs and the whole family implications for social care support.
