Implementing the Think child, think parent, think family guide
Welcome to the section of SCIE’s website that supports the implementation of the Think child, think parent, think family guide.
Families with parents who have mental health problems often have complex needs. Attempts to meet those needs can be hampered by organisational structures which make it more difficult to provide services which are accessible and useful to the whole family.
To help address this, SCIE has produced a comprehensive, evidence-based guide to working with parents with mental health problems and their children. Think child, think parent, think family and an ‘At a glance’ summary of the guide gives clear practice guidance, examples of existing effective working and recommendations for improving the experiences and outcomes for families. SCIE is now encouraging agencies to implement the guide, at both a national and local level. SCIE is supporting six ‘implementation sites’ to implement the recommendations in the guide. The work in the six sites is being evaluated by SCIE, so that the lessons learned can be shared most effectively.
Should you wish to discuss this aspect of SCIE’s work further, please contact hugh.constant@scie.org.uk.
For more information about the evaluation please contact hannah.roscoe@scie.org.uk
If you are a member of one of the implementation sites you can log in to our project website.
