Independent Mental Capacity Advocates (IMCAs) case studies

IMCAs seek to find out the views and beliefs of a person who lacks capacity to make a particular decision, and to gather relevant information about that person. IMCAs can then act as a voice for that person, making sure their rights are upheld and their wishes listened to. The following is a series of case studies drawn together by the Department of Health, the Care Quality Commission, and POhWER, a major provider of advocacy services.
