SCIE searches for young people to get on board

02 May 2007

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is recruiting new members for its board of trustees and particularly wants to hear from young people aged between 18 and 21.

SCIE's aim is to improve social care services for adults and children by identifying, advancing and promoting good practice throughout the UK . It is a registered charity and is governed by the board of trustees who guide its work and ensure its independence.

Speaking about SCIE's decision to involve more young people in its leadership and development, Chair of SCIE, Allan Bowman, said:

"SCIE aims to include all our stakeholder groups at every level of our organisation. To achieve this, is it vital that our board is representative of everyone who works in or uses social care services - regardless of their age or position."

"Young people who have used or are interested in social care will bring a fresh perspective to SCIE. We hope that they will make a positive contribution to our development - bringing ideas, experience and ambition for the future."

SCIE is also interested in hearing from people who have used older people's services and those who have experience of social care leadership.
