A good year for the Social Care Institute for Excellence
18 October 2007
The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has enjoyed its most significant year of development since it began in 2001.
From March 2006 to 2007, SCIE has considerably increased its communication and dissemination functions to reach more people in the social care sector. This has resulted in a 45 per cent increase in website visitors, a 53 per cent increase in media coverage and a significant rise in recognition.
Launching the 'SCIE annual review 2006/07' at the National Children and Adult Services Conference in Bournemouth, Chair of SCIE, Allan Bowman, said:
“SCIE has been working for sometime to strengthen its capacity to disseminate information to the social care workforce. As well as encouraging more people to use our resources, we have also developed stronger relationships with other organisations, set up and contributed to national networks and directed more resources towards understanding the information needs of people in the sector.
“We have achieved all this while still keeping the experiences, aspirations and needs of the people who use services at the heart of what we do. We’ve had a good year, and we’re now looking forward to developing further and sharing the best evidence to support the priorities of those working to improve social care.”
