SCIE appoints new lead on older people

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has stepped up its work on services for older people by appointing a new lead on the subject.
Annie Stevenson, Senior Policy Advisor at Help the Aged, has joined SCIE on secondment to help the organisation strengthen its work on care services for older people – particularly with the independent sector.
Announcing the appointment, Chief Executive of SCIE, Julie Jones, said: “Improving services for older people is a national priority. SCIE has a key part to play in encouraging innovative solutions and making sure that people receive clear advice about what works well. We are delighted that Annie Stevenson has joined us on secondment. We look forward to utilising her expertise as we extend our reach to care workers across the UK regions.”
SCIE’s new Programme Director for Older People, Annie Stevenson said: “Now is the time to raise the profile of social care by humanising the system, cutting through process and empowering the workforce. SCIE’s commitment to transforming services is clear and I’m keen to work share my knowledge and work in collaboration to champion the rights of older people.

About Annie Stevenson
- Annie Stevenson began her career as a hospital based social worker in 1983. She worked in local authority social work and for the Abbeyfield Society Housing Association before joining Help the Aged in 1999.
- Annie is keen to highlight the undervalued but positive work done with older people – particularly in care homes.
