SCIE welcomes national dignity tour
20 May 2008
The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has welcomed the National Dignity Tour launched today by the Department for Health (DH).
Chair of SCIE, Allan Bowman, said: "Dignity is not always easy to define, but what is clear is that people know when they have not been treated with it. The Dignity in Care campaign has made good progress communicating the meaning of dignity to people working in social care and we’ve been pleased with the positive response from across the sector. Now it’s time for the workforce to take the campaign forward, champion dignity and share innovative practice."
Since the Dignity in Care campaign began in 2006, SCIE has worked with the DH to produce clear good practice guidance on dignity for everyone working with older people and people with mental health issues.
