Our dementia e-learning programme wins award
04 October 2010
One of SCIE's e-learning resources on dementia has won second prize at the recent Jorum Learning and Teaching Competition. The Open Dementia e-learning Programme – Living with dementia, was voted into the top 10 by judges, and was then placed on the Jorum Community Bay for a public vote.
Colin Paton, Senior e-learning Project Manager, collected the prize at The Association for Learning Technology conference. He says:
We are extremely pleased that for the third time in four years SCIE's resources have been awarded a prize in this prestigious competition, which is judged by national e-learning experts. Such national recognition assures us that we are on the right path in terms of e-learning design.
Our Open Dementia e-Learning Programme is aimed at anyone who comes into contact with someone with dementia and provides a general introduction to the condition and the experience of living with dementia. Living with dementia is just one of seven resources in the programme.
The three winners at the Jorum Learning and Teaching Competition were:
- First: The Molecular Basis of Photosynthesis Submitted by: Katy Jordan, University of Cambridge
- Second: The Open Dementia E-learning Programme: Living with dementia, submitted by Colin Paton, Social Care Institute for Excellence
- Third: Making the creative process visible, submitted by: Dr Natasha Mayo, University Wales Institute, Cardiff
