Facts about FACS 2010: A guide to Fair Access to Care Services
It is essential that there is a fair and transparent process for deciding who in a local area should receive social care support funded by central and local government. Until the care and support system is reformed, the use of eligibility criteria, underpinned by the Fair Access to Care Services (FACS) guidance, will remain the key mechanism for the equitable allocation of publicly funded social care support across all adult user groups in England.
SCIE has produced Facts about FACS 2010: A guide to Fair Access to Care Services, an accessible but thorough guide, drawn up in consultation with central and local government interests, users, carers and practitioners and designed to support frontline staff and managers who are using FACS criteria to make funding decisions.
The guide is supported by an interactive e-learning programme Facts about FACS 2010: Implications for practice
SCIE has also produced a public information leaflet, Fair Access to Care Services: Your questions answered, for people using or seeking services, and their carers, as well as parents of disabled children, and others requesting or referred for adult services. You can copy the text from the Word file to use in your own resources and presentation.
