SCIE press release
Former SCIE chair and staff honoured in Queen’s Birthday List
15 June 2013
Allan Bowman, former chair of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE); David Walden, former Director of Adult Services; and David Ellis former Principle Advisor for Adult Services, were all honoured in yesterday’s Birthday Honours list.
Allan, who was SCIE’s chair from 2006 to 2013, received a CBE for services to social care. Under his leadership SCIE significantly increased its role, profile and impact.
David Walden, who was a SCIE director from 2009 to 2012, received a CBE for services to health and social care. David made a major contribution to SCIE’s strategic development, policy work and our focus on the quality of care.
David Ellis, who retired in 2010, received an OBE for services to people with learning disabilities. His breadth of experience and contacts strengthened and expanded our work programme.
This is fantastic news for our former colleagues, for SCIE and for social care. It is great to see them receive the recognition they deserve for dedicating their careers to improving the care and support that people receive. We always knew we were honoured to have them working at SCIE – and now their contribution has been well-recognised.SCIE’S Chief Executive, Andrea Sutcliffe
