SCIE press release

New business development and delivery director for SCIE

22 August 2014

Ewan King has been appointed as the new Director of Business Development and Delivery at the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).

In this new role, Ewan will play a key part in the delivery of SCIE’s work to clients including the Department of Health, and the development of other sustainable revenue streams.

Ewan will also oversee SCIE’s marketing, communications and co-production activities, and develop relationships with key stakeholders in the social care and other sectors. As a critical member of SCIE’s Executive Management Team, Ewan will contribute to the ongoing development of SCIE as a leading improvement agency for social care.

Ewan joins SCIE from the research organisation and consultancy, Office for Public Management (OPM), where he has been responsible for business development and communications, and for leading a wide range of research, evaluations and stakeholder engagement projects.

Ewan says:

SCIE plays a hugely important role in supporting improvement in social care, equipping the sector with the knowledge, expertise, evidence and support it needs to make a difference to service users, carers and communities. I am looking forward to working with colleagues at SCIE to further develop its services, which range from supporting organisations with health and social care integration and improving dementia care, through to preparing the sector for the Care Act and keeping children and adults safe.

SCIE’s Chief Executive Tony Hunter says:

My SCIE colleagues and I look forward to welcoming Ewan to SCIE in September. He is the perfect fit for SCIE at this time – combining a personal commitment to improving care, an in-depth understanding of evidence and research, and a track-record of creating income-generating services.

Ewan joins SCIE on 8 September 2014.  The post of Director of Business Development and Delivery was created following Patricia Kearney’s retirement earlier this year.
