Why is Carl looking at authority and responsibility?

Carl’s brief focuses on the outcomes required for the new hub. To achieve these outcomes, he needs to manage his former peers.

In his previous role as social care manager, he had good relationships with health care staff and third sector organisations.

But now he’s going to be managing both health and social care professionals. And he’ll be contract manager for the third sector organisations.

I’m reasonably confident about managing the social care people. They are my team.

I’m less sure about the health care professionals. I get on with most of them as colleagues.  But will they accept me as their manager?

Everyone’s bound to have opinions and concerns about the new hub. I’ll need to find out what those concerns are, and how to address them.
