Denise and her team consider how they can address these issues.

Approach 1 is: The staff feel the Board stifles them when they’re trying to develop new practice. So I’m going to propose trying a self-managed team approach.

Approach 2 is: Leo’s agreed that I can present a paper to the Board proposing that the service has more freedom to develop working practices. I’ll have authority to manage the budget creatively. That means I’ll be able to give the staff more flexibility.

Approach 3 is: The service users and their families want more choice and more autonomy with their money. I’m going to propose that they have individual service funds, managed by LAD. So the finances will be more flexible and transparent.

Approach 4 is: Leo’s even agreed that this could include them buying in hours (or indeed the whole care package) from another agency if this was in the person’s interest.
