What it means when someone is barred by the ISA

From 20 January 2009, the ISA will make decisions on whether or not to bar a person from working with vulnerable adults (and children where appropriate). Individuals barred by the ISA will initially be barred from working in care homes, domiciliary care agencies and adult placement schemes as now. When the Vetting and Barring Scheme is launched, they will also be barred from the range of services covered by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. For more information, see the ISA website.  www.isa-gov.org.uk
