Messages for practice

1) All staff providing care should be comfortable with assessing capacity.

2) It is important that the assessor ensures that there is a relaxed atmosphere and that the assessment takes the form of a conversation rather than a test.

3) The assessor should talk to other people who know the person well as part of the assessment.

4) An assessment could include  observation of how the person copes in different situations

Who will find this useful?
