SCIE strapline - better knowledge for better practice Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) logo

General work on knowledge and research

As part of SCIE's aim to improve the use of knowledge in social care we have worked with other organisations to build social care research capacity in the UK. The reason for this is that in some areas of social care research there is little or no evidence to support methods of practice. We can also help to ensure that there is more sharing of the knowledge that is gathered by individual organisations so that we can all learn from each other. We also want to help to raise the profile of social care research and encourage more investment in research projects with the ultimate object of finding out what really works in practice and thereby improving the lives of people who use services.
