SCIE’s work on knowledge and research in social care

The quality of SCIE’s work depends on a rigorous and transparent research methodology. SCIE has developed a number of approaches that reflect the kind of knowledge available in social care, including systematic mapping, systematic knowledge reviews, and user and carer involvement in systematic reviews.

In the future, SCIE intends to develop guidelines for practice surveys, methods of rapid evidence assessment, a tool for kitemarking good practice, and a new approach to economic evaluation.

The information in our research section will be of interest to those working in social care research, but also to students, practitioners, people who use services and anyone with an interest in social care research.

SCIE also values the involvement of practitioners in creating the evidence base for social work and social care and is a signatory to the Salisbury Statement on practice research.

National Social Care Research Ethics Committee (SCREC)
