Future of social care

SCIE welcomes the recommendations of “Building a safe, confident future: the final report of the Social Work Taskforce”, published in December 2009. The Social Work Taskforce recommendations seek to make a real difference to the support that students receive in training and education.

SCIE resources are available in a number of formats including e-learning and Social Care TV. These resources provide real life practice examples, equipping you for the challenges that you will face in practice.

Participation

SCIE is committed to engaging with people who use services. We ensure that anyone who has a stake in social care is able to influence, take part in and remain at the heart of SCIE’s work.

This core value reflects the recommendations of the Social Work Taskforce; “Social work reform will not succeed unless it is open to and influenced by the views and experiences of people who know best the impact that good (or bad) practice can have.”

With partners, SCIE has developed the Social Work Education Participation Website. This is a unique space for service users, carers, educators and students to network and share good practice.

Better knowledge for better practice

Our resources directly reflect the core curriculum for social work training, including; communication skills, participation, assessment and development.
