Preventing falls

Older people (aged 65 years and older) frequently fall, especially when resident in long-term care: Up to 35 per cent of falls here result in serious injury and up to 8 per cent in fractures. They can also have a damaging psychological impact. Effective falls prevention is therefore vital so that older people can maintain their independence, health and wellbeing.
