SCIE administers Social Care Leadership Development Initiative (SCLDI) money on behalf of the Department of Health to fund programmes designed to develop managers in the social care sector. Projects include:
- The Social Care Leadership Development Programme for senior leaders in children's and adults' social care in England, run in conjunction with Birmingham University, the Tavistock Centre and the Kings Fund. The first programme has been completed and a new, expanded programme will start in 2008
- Evaluation of the Social Care Leadership Development Programme and the Futures Programme for black and minority ethnic managers in social care, education, housing and health (now complete). This will inform the development of the Skills Academy which was proposed in Putting People First
- ADASS new directors programme for newly appointed directors from a non-social care background about their statutory responsibilities
Core cities leadership and development programme. The intention of this programme is to develop a common leadership culture that will support the development and delivery of integrated health and social care services in the Core Cities, (Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield).
