Part of Prevention and wellbeing
This research briefing provides a summary of the research knowledge into the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of services to prevent social isolation and loneliness. The briefing lists key interventions in three groups: one to one interventions, group services, and wider community engagement. It then discusses the outcomes of interventions in the following areas: social isolation, reducing loneliness, health and wellbeing, health service use, people's views on the interventions, organisational implications, implementing effective interventions, and cost and cost-effective interventions. Existing gaps in the research evidence are also highlighted.
