The quality of life for someone living with dementia is affected by where and how they live. The Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia 2020 (2015) states that, by 2020 we wish to see an increased number of people with dementia being able to live longer in their own homes.

In one of 17 interviews conducted as part of the Care Leaver's Stories Project, Larry Gardiner talks about his life before, during and after care. The full interview is in two parts, and a film summary and transcript is also available. The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery fund and developed by SCIE in partnership with the British Library, enabled care experienced people to record their life stories on digital video.
