Sexual, reproductive and mental health: supporting clients who experience abuse

This e-learning resource is one of 8 modules developed to help mental health professionals deal with aspects of sexual and reproductive health in the context of mental illness. Sections explore what abuse is and why it is often hard to talk about. It also looks at asking questions about abuse, what to say when someone disclose abuse and provides key action points for practice.

Safeguarding adults: an independent life after abuse

The video focuses on Philip who suffered physical, financial and emotional abuse in the family home for many years. He has learning disabilities and cerebral palsy. When Philip finally disclosed the abuse, he was supported to leave the family home. He now lives a full and independent life.
