Review of the impact of the Social Care Governance workbook (NI)
This workbook uses a social care governance framework to support practitioners, managers and teams to reflect on and evaluate their practice and to make improvements.
The report was commissioned by the Department of Health. Safeguarding adults is a multiagency responsibility and the guidance relating to it (No secrets, DH, 2000) has been subject to public and political scrutiny. Under the guidance, local authorities were encouraged to consider structures for interagency collaboration and it is these that have become known as Safeguarding Adults Boards. The report looks at how the boards have been structured, their membership and their strategic goals, vision and purpose.
The workbook will be of interest to local authorities as a systematic way of checking and improving practice in social care.
This report examines the experiences and contributions of service users who serve on the boards of the care councils for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the Care Commission (in Scotland) and Topss England (now Skills for Care)
