End of life care: why talking about death and dying matters

For people moving towards the end of life a personalised approach gives them a voice and influence over their care. This film looks at how personalised care can be achieved through the Living Well tool, which involves creating a simple one page profile to record a person’s needs and wishes.

    Care Skillsbase

A resource for identifying and checking the communication and number skills care staff need to do their work.

Co-production and participation: older people with high support needs

    Part of Co-production

This briefing summarises a review of literature and a small-scale survey of good practice on the participation and co-production of older people with high support needs. It looks at the benefits and barriers to participation; highlights two research programmes involving older people with high support needs. Recommendations for improved practice are also listed. It is noted that the evidence base for the review was limited as relevant material was either about participation as it relates generally to older people or was about older people with high support needs but contained very little reference to participation.

    Personal budgets: micro enterprises

This film introduces the concept of micro-providers for personalised adult social care and support. Micro-providers are very small enterprises which provide individually tailored support to people who use personal budgets and direct payments. This film looks at how micro-providers in Nottingham have improved the lives and outcomes of personal budget holders and includes interviews with people who have set up micro-provider support services.
