View the webinar recording

This webinar gives and overview of SCIE’s guide to delivering safe, face-to-face adult day care as well as some practical examples from the sector.

The loss of, or reduction in, day care services during the COVID-19 crisis has been hugely challenging for people who use the services and their families and carers. This webinar aims to supporting the safe delivery of these services by highlighting key guidance, providing practical examples, supporting connections with other providers and responding to key questions from the sector.

The SCIE guide was developed in conjunction with Public Health England (PHE), the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), the Local Government Association and King’s College London. It has been recently updated to reflect the changing COVID landscape and policies.

The guide and webinar are aimed at anyone interested in day care provision for adults, including day care managers, social workers, commissioners and providers. The webinar may also be relevant for people who use services, their carers and families. It is focused on community-based day services, day centres (with and without personal care), including specialised day centre environments.

The speakers discuss how providers have remained open, or re-opened, during the COVID-19 pandemic, what the key challenges have been and how these have been responded to.
