Let’s talk about... when someone is ill or dies from coronavirus. Online support for people with learning disabilities

Conversation prompts about loss, grief, and more practical things, such as social distancing at funerals in the context of COVID-19 outbreak. The resource explains how to run an online meeting for people with learning disabilities and how to talk about death. It features a set of ten pictures that can be used as prompts to help people with learning disabilities talk about the impact of coronavirus on their lives, and especially the impact of people dying from coronavirus. For each picture, there are conversation prompts to do with the picture, followed by conversation prompts that help people relate the picture to their own lives. The pictures can be used in online meetings with people with learning disabilities or when meeting face-to-face with one person or a group.

Responding to the challenges of COVID-19: guidance for practitioners working with domestic abuse perpetrators

This document offers advice to professionals and practitioners who are working with domestic abuse perpetrators during the COVID-19 crisis. It is based on the learning from conversations with accredited services working with perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse and national and international experts. The document recommends that all practitioners follow their own organisation’s health and safety guidance, safeguarding procedures and business and contingency protocols. When considering any changes to existing service provision, a set of principles, outlined in the Respect Service Standard, remain important. They are: safety first; do not harm; the system matters; support for the staff. The document also signposts to additional resources, advice and support services.

Supporting care-experienced children and young people during the Covid-19 crisis and its aftermath

This advice is intended for foster and kinship carers, adoptive parents, and professionals who work with care-experienced children in schools, residential care homes and other settings across the United Kingdom. The term ‘care-experienced’ is used with reference to all looked after and adopted children and those in kinship or residential care. The guidance has a focus on thinking about care-experienced children and young people particularly in relation to education during the Covid-19 pandemic. It covers self-care; support in feeling safe; stay connected; making the most of opportunities; and supporting transitions.
