New board member for SCIE

David Archibald, Executive Director Children and Adults at Ealing Council is joining the board of the Social Care Institute for Excellence.

The announcement has been made by SCIE Chair of trustees, Allan Bowman, who has given David a warm welcome to the board.

David trained as a social worker, following a degree in psychology, and practiced in Glasgow and Birmingham before taking on management posts in Hertfordshire and West Sussex. David was appointed as the first Director of Social Services in the new unitary authority of Medway Council where he established a new department.  In 1999 he moved to East Sussex County Council as Director of Social Services. In 2005 David became Executive Director for Children and Adults in Ealing, where he led implementation of the Children Act, and introduction of personalisation across Adults Social Services.

David says:

I am excited to be joining SCIE's board at such an important time for social care. I hope to bring fresh perspective to trustee meetings and  in turn look forward to learning from fellow trustees and from the excellent work that SCIE carries out.  I am passionate about enabling and empowering service users, and working with them improve their life chances and outcomes.
