The Queen’s speech; Draft Care and Support Bill
09 May 2012
“Informed care choices are a priority”
Commenting on the Queen’s speech, SCIE’s Chief Executive Andrea Sutcliffe says:
We welcome today’s commitment to addressing the important challenges facing social care. There are lots of urgent issues that the bill needs to tackle. The Government’s goal is to put people in control of their care and to give them greater choice. People want, and increasingly expect to make informed choices about their care. But they also want to know that they can access quality care that is safe and delivers value for money. We are ready to play our part in supporting what needs to be done to deliver on these priorities.
This is particularly important as we look to launch Find Me Good Care in the summer. This website will provide accessible information to help people, including carers, to make those important, informed care choices.
