SCIE among City Hall's London Healthy Workplace award winners
20 November 2019
Businesses in London that show outstanding dedication to the health and wellbeing of their staff were honoured at a special event at City Hall on Monday. In total, 64 organisations were presented with awards at the London Healthy Workplace Awards 2019. SCIE is delighted to be on of the 64 winners.
The London Healthy Workplace Award is an accreditation scheme led by the Mayor of London's Office and supported by Public Health England. It acts as a template for good practice and recognises London employers which invest in their employee’s health and wellbeing. The scheme supports organisations of all sizes across public, private and voluntary sectors.
The award helps organisations address some of the biggest challenges businesses face, including recruitment and staff retention, sickness absence and employee productivity. Organisations are encouraged to develop wellbeing programmes across a wide range of areas, including support for mental health and wellbeing, smoking, alcohol and substance misuse, improving physical activity and promoting healthy eating.
Dr Tom Coffey OBE, Mayor of London Health Advisor, says:
Creating and fostering healthy workplaces has benefits for both employers and staff, improving physical and mental wellbeing, and leading to increased productivity and creativity. We want better health for all Londoners, and the London Healthy Workplace Awards both celebrates best practice and offers guidance for organisations to improve work standards. I’d like to congratulate all the winners for their great work.
Tony Hunter, Chief Executive of SCIE, says:
SCIE recognises that good employee health and wellbeing results in a healthier and more inclusive culture, better employee morale and engagement, and stronger organisational performance. I am committed to making employee health and wellbeing a core priority, and I am pleased and proud that our efforts have been recognised with a Foundation Award from the Mayor’s Office.
The Mayor of London is committed to ensuring employers across the capital are provided with clear and easy guidance on how to improve their workplaces to enable their staff to flourish. These awards complement the Mayor’s Good Work Standard which sets the benchmark for what the Mayor wants every London employer to achieve, including fair pay and conditions, wellbeing, skills and progression, and diversity and recruitment.
