Disabled children and young people: enhancing access to leisure services

What is the video about?

This film focuses on an innovative approach to widening access to leisure services and equipment in Derbyshire: a project working in partnership, across a number of agencies including the statutory, private and public sectors. The film examines how universal services can be effectively upgraded to improve outcomes for disabled children and young people. It also looks at the cultural and physical change that is needed to accompany this process.

Messages for practice

  1. Multi-agency and partnership working is key to successfully widening access to universal services for children and young people with disabilities.
  2. Innovative projects do not necessarily carry with them a big financial burden to local authorities.
