Various dates in June and July (see below)
SCIE believes safeguarding practice in any organisation can only be as good as those who deliver it. We recognise that most organisations operating in the field of health and social care, be they statutory, charity, voluntary or private sector, will have at least one designated safeguarding lead (DSL). We also recognise that for many DSLs the role will be in addition to ‘the day job’, and that some will work alone with limited support from peers or the wider organisation.
Working in isolation in this way DSLs can feel stressed and overwhelmed by the responsibility, and the limited opportunities for reflection, learning and personal development.
To support DSLs, SCIE is exploring a DSL membership offer that could include a combination of:
- small peer group networks
- 1-2-1 safeguarding reflection sessions
- annual refresher training, and
- regular legal updates.
To help us shape the offer and make sure it’s meeting your needs we would welcome your involvement in one of our online focus groups.
