Work-based task 1a
By the time of the second virtual contact day please complete work-based tasks 1a, 1b and 2.
Work-based task 1a:
Self-assessment of own leadership
As we discussed in the Self-Leadership section, understanding the realities of our practice is an important part of changing how we act in the future.
You will now undertake a self-assessment of the leadership behaviours associated with strengths-based practice. This self-assessment will support you with undertaking work-based task 1b.
The following leadership behaviours are based on the work of leading strengths-based practice thinkers (Rath & Conchie 2008, Gottlieb et al 2012, RiP 2018, SCIE 2019).
Leadership behaviours for strengths-based practice
- Personal: I recognise my strengths as a leader and how I can build upon these
- Values: I reflect my professional values in my leadership
- Partnership: I lead in partnership with people with lived experience and their communities
- Practice: I facilitate the practice of others to become more strengths-based in their work
- Teams: I lead teams which build on their individual and collective strengths
- Change: I make positive changes in my organisation and the wider system
For each leadership behaviour there will be two to four questions which explore dimensions of this behaviour.
When you have completed the online survey you will be emailed a PDF which summarises your responses to the questions. Keep this safe as it will be useful to aid your reflection around your leadership development as you will be asked to undertake this self-assessment again.
