About this webinar
SCIE launched a new practical resource on Tuesday 10 September, to support reablement services in delivering better outcomes for people who need reablement support, their families and social care staff.
Reablement services play an important role in helping older people regain their independence following a hospital discharge. However, poor engagement by older people and their families is often a major barrier to the success of this intervention.
To overcome this issue, researchers at the University of York have developed a new, practical resource to support reablement services in overcoming key challenges that impact user engagement. These include poor understanding reablement among referring agencies, older people and their families, a lack of support from family members, and aspects of service delivery.
Professor Bryony Beresford, Co-Director of the University of York’s Social Policy Research Unit and lead researcher, speaks to this new resource, the research that underpins it and the key recommendations that can really help to make a difference.
Who is this webinar for?
The webinar is ideal for anyone involved in commissioning, managing or delivering reablement services and those who are part of the hospital discharge process. It will provide practical advice, including some ‘quick wins’ that can help services engage with users and their families more effectively, resulting in better outcomes for all.
