Work-based task 2
Work-based task 2:
Ideas for an improvement project
During the programme you will undertake a project which seeks to improve an aspect of strengths-based practice within your organisation or system.
This is on the basis that there is no better way to explore our learning than by applying it to a real-life situation.
The project can relate to any aspect of strengths-based practice.
The only criteria are that the project has to:
- relate to strengths-based practice
- enable you to demonstrate leadership
- engage people with lived experience
- be achievable in the six months of the programme (or at least have a significant proportion completed).
Work-based task 2 involves you developing initial ideas about the focus of your improvement project. An improvement project could cover a wide range of activities, such as:
- establishing a new arrangement for co-producing services with local citizens
- designing a new learning intervention / programme to support people from across the organisation to develop and implement strengths-based practice
- reviewing policies, procedures and forms and re-designing these with teams so they support and reflect the principles of strengths-based practice
- working with commissioners to think through how they develop more strengths-based contracts or measures of performance
- agreeing the outcomes for a service in partnership with those who are expected to access its support
- developing a strategic vision for what an aspect of strengths-based practice could achieve
- introducing a quality framework to support in the review and / or measurement of strengths-based practice.
As well as thinking through yourself, you may want to talk to your manager and/or organisational sponsor and speak with those who are leading the implementation of strengths-based practice in your area.
At the next live session, you will share your initial thoughts regarding your project with your learning group and obtain their feedback.
Subsequent work-based tasks will involve scoping out the improvement project with stakeholders and undertaking the project (Work-based task 3).
