Future-proofing housing for ageing

Social care showcase webinar

We have known there is an ageing demographic for some time, but why are we still woefully underprepared in terms of accessible, adaptable and flexible housing? In this seminar, Professor McCall outlines her research and the evidence base that supports housing as one of the most tangible ways to futureproof for the ageing population. We explore the barriers to adaptations, the role of technology and how we design for healthy cognitive and physical ageing in our homes and environments. Furthermore, this webinar explores how we can tackle stigma and overcome discrimination and exclusion through inclusive design.

The webinar is run by Dr Vikki McCall, who is a Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Housing in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling. Vikki’s work includes leading projects focusing on housing, ageing, stigma, co-production the role of front-line workers, service users, volunteers and the policy process.
