SCIE and the Better Care Fund
The Better Care Fund (BCF) continues to underpin national policy for the integration of health and social care around the person. The BCF planning guidance for 2019–20 describes the importance of evidence-based, whole-system planning and commissioning, drawing on tools like SCIE’s Logic model for integrated care.
SCIE has provided national BCF implementation support to many local health and care systems for the last five years, helping them deliver the benefits of integration. In addition to providing many resources and tools, we are well placed to support:
- Better Care Fund 2019–20 planning, drawing on the latest evidence about effective interventions and the SCIE Logic model for integrated care
- Whole-system design to improve commissioning, through expert workshop facilitation for local partnerships
- Co-production events to co-design services with local people and communities
- Impact monitoring and evaluation, creating tailored dashboards that can be used to assess progress and calculate cost savings
- Whole-system summits with senior leaders to tackle barriers to progress and improve partnership working, such as Winter Planning and the High Impact Actions
- Peer support and coaching to system leaders and integration leads
