Report 64: Reviewing the impact of the Social care governance workbook
Background and context
Over the last 10 years a strong focus on best practice to improve standards and outcomes of care has resulted in the publication of guidance and frameworks aimed at improving service delivery across HSC. In 2006 the DHSSPS published ‘Quality standards for health and social care’.
Since then, restructuring of health and social care provision resulted in new management arrangements and geographical boundaries and coupled with a global recession have presented demanding challenges. Within this context, the Health and Social Care Board (2011), chaired by Compton, proposed a programme of radical reform.
All these changes resulted in a need to review the workbook, and SCIE was commissioned to run a small-scale study looking at its implementation, strengths and weaknesses.
