Windows of opportunity: prevention and early intervention in dementia
Personal Resources: What are personal resources?
Personal resources do not offer a window of opportunity as such, but are the foundation on which any external interventions are built. We all have skills and attributes that help us to cope with life’s challenges.
It is entirely likely that people with dementia and their carers can be encouraged and supported to use their own personal resources to boost their resilience as they deal with the personal experience of living with dementia. Identifying and reinforcing areas where people have shown resilience may strengthen their sense of their own ability to cope.
