Introduction for social work educators and trainers

Watch or download Powerpoint slides and a short film for social work educators and trainers that highlight key areas from the Digital Capabilities Statement for Social Work Practice.

You will find ideas and prompts to support social work programme providers, post-qualifying programmes and CPD trainers relating to digital capabilities of social workers.

Dr Denise Turner is a senior social work lecturer and chair of the Advisory Group on Digital Capabilties for Social Workers. In her film, she explains that first and foremost, education providers need to take into account the professional standards and benchmarks they must achieve in their work.

They need to think digital holistically – it needs to be threaded throughout the programmes. Staff should be given the study time and the training to develop the skills. Using digital capabilities should be at the core of what social work education aims to do – part of training social workers. Find out more in her film.
