Standard 2: Understand the organisation and the role of the worker
This standard is divided into the following three parts:
It is important for all workers to know exactly what is expected of them in their role.
This standard deals with your responsibilities as outlined in the NISCC Code of practice for social care workers. It considers your role as a worker in relation to the person you care for or support. It looks at the aims of your organisation and its values, how you work with others in relation to your professional role. It also considers how important it is for you to understand and follow your employer’s policies and procedures.
This standard sets out the importance of good working relationships with:
- the people you care for
- your colleagues in the workplace
- those you work with from other agencies.
