Second publication in the Office of Social Service’s Reflections series.
Through the use of local examples, this resource highlights the importance of using strengths-based approaches to empower and support those we work with.
All social work is founded upon our value base, and the principles of promoting self-determination, demonstrating respect and holding a positive regard for others are all themselves strengths-based. Social workers reflect these fundamental values in practice. In so doing they are able to challenge stereotypes and inequalities, and instead build truly empowering relationships.
