Webinar recording: COVID-19 and care providers
Care providers, such as residential care homes, nursing homes and home care providers, are at the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In many care homes across England we are seeking the virus spread fast and, sadly, an unacceptably high number of people losing their lives.
The DHSC COVID-19 Adult Social Care Action Plan seeks to address some of the problems facing the sector. For example, ensuring that staff receive personal protective equipment (PPE), can access testing, and benefit fully from the range of financial support available. But it is only a start.
This webinar – the third in a series of webinars on COVID-19 – explored:
- the impact of COVID-19 on care providers
- responses and good practice which seems to be helping
- how we ensure that quality of care is maintained during this period
- how we support providers beyond the immediate crisis.
The webinar is chaired by Paul Burstow, Chair of SCIE. He is joined by Kathryn Smith, the incoming Chief Executive of the Social Care Institute for Excellence, currently COO at Alzheimer's Society, and Sarah Mitchell, a care home manager.
