Organisation types and sizes definitions

Organisations that can enter are charities or organisations whose activities are charitable, benevolent or philanthropic in nature (e.g. non-profits, community interest companies) that work in social care. Branches or affiliates of larger charities are not eligible to enter.

Micro organisations: (annual income up to £10,000 income).

Small organisations: (annual income from £10,001 up to £100,000).

Social care definition

Social care is a broad term that refers to support provided by a wide range of voluntary and private sector organisations, friends and family, and local authorities to help those in need, both adults and children, to maintain their independence and wellbeing. Social care is there to help you if you need practical support because of illness or disability and/or if you care for someone receiving social care and support.

Social impact definition

In the context of social care, social impact is the effect an organisation’s actions have on the wellbeing of the community. It involves making a positive difference in society.

Who are the judges?

Our judging panel includes SCIE’s staff, a co-production steering group member and trustees who bring immense depth of expertise and passion for the cause, based on frontline work and years of broad experience.

Is there a cash alternative to the prizes?

No, we are not offering cash alternatives to the prizes.

How long before we get to work with you and receive our consultancy/training?

We will work with you to establish a timeframe that works for us both. We anticipate that we will be seeking to work with you over the Summer/Autumn of 2025.

What financial evidence do I need to provide to enter?

We do require some financial evidence to make an award. What we mean by this is proof of the way money is spent, or paid to others to spend, is in accordance with the way public business should be conducted. For registered charities a copy of your statutory accounts will be sufficient. If you are unregistered, or a community interest company (CIC), please contact us and we will discuss the most appropriate course.

What impact evidence do we need to provide?

We would like to understand how your work, using at least one of the areas of co-production, EDI or digitalisation, has made changes , how much these changes are attributed to your work, and what is the significance of these changes to individuals helped by your organisation. It will be helpful to provide any data and quotes to support this.

• Your entry must not exceed 300 words, or two minutes video or voice note.
• Only one entry per organisation.
• Entries will only be accepted from organisations that match the stipulated type and size, and those that operate in the field of social care and are UK-based.
• Entries must satisfy SCIE’s need for financial evidence.
• Entries will not be considered after the closing date. SCIE reserves the right to bring the closing date forward if there is a large volume of entries.
• Entries must demonstrate how your organisation supports SCIE’s vision by showing impact evidence of at least one of co-production, EDI and/or digitalisation.
• The judging panel’s decision is final.
• All entries are treated confidentially and will not be returned.

Please note that the winners will be part of our publicity for the awards including imagery and logos.
