Key annual events

SCIE’s annual Co-production Week

Monday 30 June marked the start of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)’s Co-production Week 2025, a celebration of the power of co-production to design and develop better ways of doing things in social care.

It highlighted the benefits of co-production, shares good practice, stimulates debate and promotes the contribution of people who use services and carers in developing better social care.

Co-production is about working in equal partnership with people using services, carers, families and citizens, offering the chance to transform social care and health provision to a model that offers people real choice and control.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the event, and the theme ‘Innovation through co-production’ focused on exploring how co-production can help innovation and how to better demonstrate the impact and difference it makes. We aim to uncover new insights into how co-production fuels innovation in social care,  sharing ideas and learning across the co-production community.

SCIE influencing policy

A social care system fit for the 21st century is in the national interest.  To help realise this ambition, SCIE hosts events at the political party conferences.  Driving awareness of issues is crucial, but driving solutions through improvement and innovation is of paramount importance as we continue to navigate new and challenging times.

Outside of the party political conference season SCIE also hosts influencing events such as Round Tables where policymakers, practitioners, people with lived experience, researchers and sector leaders are convened to fill evidence gaps on key issues and topics that are practical, co-produced and grounded in real-world delivery.

SCIE at NCASC

SCIE attended the National Children and Adult Services Conference (NCASC) in November 2024 to showcase our digital innovation around future care models. We offered insights and practical tools for improving social care.

We are looking forward to attending this year’s conference in Bournemouth from the 26th to 28th November. Please come and visit us on our stand.

SCIE’s Spring Reception

Each Spring SCIE hosts a reception to celebrate our impact over the course of the previous year and to showcase key projects and activities.  Senior stakeholders from across national and local government, care providers, regional bodies, and sector membership organisations attend to network and meet colleagues from across the sector.

EY have kindly hosted our Spring Reception in both 2024 and 2025 at their London Bridge and Canary Wharf offices. Huge thanks to EY for hosting us in such style.

“It was a lovely event and it was really good to meet you, Gerard and other SCIE colleagues.” Director of Adult Social Care
